SOVIET BUYS WHEAT
FOOD SCARCITY FEARED (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Times Cable. LONDON, Wednesday. The Russian Government’s extensive buying of wheat in the world s grain markets in the last few days indicates that it fears a serious scarcity of food in Russia. It is estimated that the Soviet has bought between 150,000 and 200,000 tons, representing about £2,500,000. Beyond the fact that the grain was sold for cash, the dealers profess not to know precisely how the payments are to be provided. No credit is being given.
