FRED SMITH’S HARD LUCK

VRED SMITH’S change of cpipr- \ ters from Auckland did not change his luck, and since taking up his abode at Claudelands, the ex-Epsom owner-trainer has had the misfortune to lose his fine mare Tui Zolock. The daughter of Hal Zo lock—Pakotui was a promising pacer, and last season won several events at country fixtures. An unfortunate accident early this season put Tui out of action, but she looked in splendid condition after her lengthy spell. However, ‘he smash-up had evidently left illeffects, and the mare died since going to Hamilton. The loss is a serious one for owner Smith, as apart from her racing capabilities, Tui Zolock had the qualifications required for efficient breeding service at the stud game.
