“WINTER SHADOWS” DANCE

BOATING CLUB FUNCTION A delightful “winter shadows” dance was held in the Bays water Clubhouse by the Takapuna Boating Club last evening. Birtley’s first orchestra was in good form and provided bright music for the large crowd of dancers. Blue and gold streamers with long trails of greenery decorated the supperroom and in the ballroom orange lights and shades were a gay touch of colour against the snow-covered landscapes of the painted canvas walls. Committee ladies present were: Mrs. Lidguard, frock of biege georgette with embroidered relief of rose. Mrs. Peters, black crepe de chine frock with lace inset. Mrs. Inkster, gown of black brocaded satin beaute. Mrs. Blackwell, gown of blue and rose brocaded cloth. Mrs. M. Williamson, french grey marocain frock. Mrs. Waddell, black satin gown with relief of silver. Mrs. Deacon, amethyst georgette frock with overskirt of silver lace. Miss Pickworth, gown of bronze sequined net worn over old gold satin. Miss Bowen, frock of pastel tinted crepe de chine Among the dancers were: Mrs. Eckman, frock of beige beaded georgette. Mrs. Lawrence, gown of flame georgette with uneven hem line. Mrs. A. C. CROQUET CLUB FOR STANLEY BAY

COMMITTEE APPOINTED A croquet club was formed at Stanley Bay yesterday. Mrs. R. Cleland was elected president. A committee was set up to arrange with the Stanley Bay Improvement Committee for the control of the croquet lawns being provided on Stanley Bay Park.

TENNIS DANCE

The Morrinsville Tennis Club held their annual dance in the new Regent Hall last evening. There was a fair attendance, about 40 couples being present. Music was supplied by the Elite Jazz Orchestra, extras being played by Misses Grimwade, Martin and Haworth. Mr. H. Thompson was master of ceremonies.

ANNUAL HOCKEY DANCE

VISITORS ENTERTAINED AT SCOTS HALL The Auckland combined hockey associations held their annual dance lastevening at the Scots Hall, in honour of the visiting players who are participating in the Auckland Provincial Cup and White Horse Cup tournaments. There were over 550 dancers on the floor, nearly half that number being visiting players. Mr. G. Shorland's orchestra supplied excellent music.
