Stock auctioneers report on sales held during the week as follows: — The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., reports:—We held sales during the past week at Westfield, Papakura and Whitford, with steady competition for all classes of cattle, late values ruling. We quote: Dairy cows and heifers close to profit, best £lO to £l4 15s, others £6 to £9 15s: backward springers, £5 to £9 10s; aged cows and inferior heifers, £2 10s to £4 17s 6d; bulls, £2 10s to £9 ss, according to weight; store cows, £2 to £3 17s 6d; boner cows, £3 5s to £4 15s; yearling heifers, best £2 15s to £4 10s, others £1 10s to £2 10s; yearling to 18-months steers, £2 10s to £4 7s 6d; two to 21year steers, £4 10s to £5 ss; three to 3&-year steers, £5 10s to £6 12s 6d; four to 4i-year steers, £6 15s to £1 7s fid; grown steers in forward condition, £7 10s to £8 10s; beef at fully Westfield quotations. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., report:—During the week we held sales at Pukekohe, Westfield, Kunieu and Kunciman, a pig sale at Pukekohe and four clearing sales. All classes of cattle and sheep sold at late values and pigs are meeting with a steady sale. CALCUTTA LINSEED MARKET The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated July 4, from Landale and Clark, Ltd., Calcutta, with reference to the linseed market: — “We quote £l6 15s for linseed a ton net, c. and f. Sydney, for immediate shipment. Market steady, but quiet.’*
