PAKURANGA HUNT
VISIT TO RANGANUI The attendance at the meet of the Pakuranga Hunt at Mr. F. A. Price's farm, Eanganui, Papatoetoe, on Tuesday was small, but later increased to about 50 followers. The hounds raised a strong quarry, which led the field a good run across Mr. Price’s proptry into Mr. Will McLaughlin’s estate at Puhi Xui, and after a merry hunt in the back country, in which a good variety of jumps were encountered, the hare found shelter. In trying to renew the scent the hounds picked up a cross-scent, and the pack split, and it was some time before they could be gathered together again. A visit was then paid to Mr. Rae’s farm, and a hare was raised, which circled round Mr. Price s farm and made toward the sea at the back of Mr. McLaughlin’s property, where it was lost. While returning to Ranganui the pack jumped on to another hare before it could make a get-away, and killed it. At the conclusion of the meet the members were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Price at their home at Ranganui, where afternoon tea was served. The next meet of the club will be held at the East Tamaki Hall on Saturday, and as there is always an abundance of hares in this locality, some good sport is assured.
