“ITALY’S AFFAIR”
DISPUTE ABOUT TYROL AUSTRIA CONCILIATORY (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian P.A.—United Service) ROME, Monday. A communique announces that the
Prime Minister of Italy, Signor Mussolini, and the Chancellor of Austria, Dr. Ignatius Seipel, recently exchanged messages in which the latter declared that Austria had always considered the Tyrol to be Italy’s affair, and that the inhabitants of the upper Adige should solely communicate with Rome. Dr. Seipel said responsible Austrians had always been careful not to interfere with Italy’s domestic policy and had not participated in, or encouraged, anti-Italian demonstrations. They would continue that attiude. Signor Mussolini thereupon ordered the Italian Minister at Vienna to resume diplomatic relations with that country.
