DURHAM PLAYERS BANNED 340 AMATEURS SUSPENDED (United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) (Australian Press Association.) LONDON, Sunday. The Football Association has drastically declared to be professionals 340 amateur players, the majority of whom were suspended until December, their clubs being warned and fined. Most of the players involved are members of tho North-eastern League and the Amateur Northern League. The greater number of the players involved are working miners in Durham and 61 are mining officials. The decision has created the greatest football sensation for many years. The formation of a separate county association is being discussed.
