Shanty Tragedy

SHOT AND BURNED ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH (From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIKOHE, Monday. A tragedy was discovered at Awarua last night, when an elderly man named Victor Mac Ken was found dead in the ashes of his burned whare and his head shattered by the discharge of a shot gun that was found beside the body. It is presumed that the discharge of I the gun set the shanty on fire. The deceased was in Kaikohe on Friday and complained of ill-health, { being troubled with asthma, and the after effect of an attack of influenza. { The body was brought into Kaikohe this afternoon.
