MAN OF MANY HOMES

CABLE OFFICIAL’S TRAVELS WEST INDIES NATIVES ARE KEEN ON CRICKET Mr. TV. E. Rockingham, of the staff of the Pacific Cable Board, has worked in nearly every part of the British Em pire. lie is a through passenger on the Niagara on his way to Bam field. British Columbia, where he will occupy the position of superintendent at the Bamtield cable station. Some of Mr. Rockingham’s most interesting years were spent in the British TVest Indies, where he organised a new system for the Pacific Cable Board, in 192 4. On that occasion nine wireless stations and three cable stations were taken over by the board. The natives of the West Indies take a great interest in cricket, said Mr. Rockingham. He showed a newspaper representative a picture of hundreds of natives standing in front of a board on which the scores were being posted. Several very fine cricketers have been found in the British West Indies, said Mr. Rockingham, and on one occasion a team defeated the visiting M.C.C. cricketers who were touring. Trinidad has very fine roads, he says. Pitch from the pitch lake there is used extensively and is very cheap. During his long and interesting travels Mr. Rockingham ha* kept a fine photographic record of the stations at which he has lived. These include IoV ly views from the British West Indies, snow scenes from Halifax. Nova Scotia, ana views from Australia, where he has been stationed during the past few years.
