FIDELITY TO DUTY

CHURCH OF CHRIST At the Church of Christ, Ponsonby Road, Mr. Laurie North, taking for his text the passage of Scripture found in Matthew 27-22, where Pilate asks the accusers of Jesus: “What then shall I do Avith Jesus which is called Christ?” stressed the necessity of fidelity to duty. Through vacillation Pilate found himself in a. dilemma. He had judged the Christ to be not guilty, but, wishing to please the Jews, he failed n his duty to that Avhich is noblest: hence the question. And the same question is being asked by numbers to-day. The path of duty is plain. Christ is calling men to follow Him, and in the crucial hour, in the testing time, at the parting of the ways, they are as vacillating as was Pilate, and they condemn the Christ, well knowing that in so doing the}/ are not loyal to their better judgment. During the service the choir rendered the anthem, “Lord of Galilee,” and Mr. North sang the solo, “What Will You Do With Jesus?”
