THE SNOWDROP
The bulbs were all tucked up under ! the warm, brown earth—snowdrops, crocuses, daffodils and hyancinths. They were all quite content except the little snowdrop, who said it was dull. “I’m going up to see what it’s like,” she said. “But it’s so early,” said th© others. “We’re coming in the spring, wait for us!” “No,” said the snowdrop, “I won’t”; and up she went, pushing her way through the haxd, cold earth, till at last she was able to put her little green and white head right out and have a look at th© world. How glad everybody was to see her, the first flower for weeks and weeks; and what a fuss they made of her! So now she always comes early, just for the fun of being spoilt!
