FAREWELL PARTY
The -women members of the Golf Club and Croquet Club entertained Mrs. 33. Thorburn. who is leaving Te Puke, to a social afternoon at the Te Puko Ladies’ Clubrooms. Mrs. H. A. Vercoe, president of the Croquet Club, after a short speech, in which she voiced the regret of all at Mrs. Thorburn’s departure, presented the guest with a pale green dressing table set. Luring the afternoon a competition was entered into by those present. Mrs. P. Palmer, Mrs. A. Budd and Mrs. Cashmore all guessed the correct number. Mrs. Palmer received a plate, while the other two winners received a handkerchief each. Songs were given by Miss \V. Watson, Miss Norma , Stevens, Auckland, and Mrs. G. Shaw and were very much appreciated. Mrs. Thorburn, the guest of honour, wore a fawn jumper suit, with cloche hat to tone Others present were: Mrs. Rogers, Mrs. Budd, Mrs. Granger, Mrs. Urquhart, Mrs. H. A. Vercoe, Mrs. Houston, Mrs. Cashmore, Mrs. Shaw, Mrs. Stevens, Auckland, Mrs. Go fife, Mrs. Mollgaard, Mrs. Butcher, Mrs. Perring, Mrs. F. Palmer, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Wilson, Miss Watson, Miss Mollgaard, Miss Stevens, Mrs. Wilkie.
