LYRIC
“BODY AND SOUL” Lionel Barrymore, Aileen Pringle and Norman Kerry are the stars which head the list of players in the picture "Body and Soul” now being shown at the Lyric Theatre. ■Set amid the impressive scenery of the Swiss Alps, it tells the tale of a peasant maid who marries a human derelict out of gratitude and then unwittingly arouses his jealousy to such a pitch that he brands her body with a white-hot iron so all men may know she is his. A mountaineer rescues the
girl, spirits her away to his cabin, and the two fall in love. How the husband appears on the scene, the sacrifice of the girl to save the man she loves, and their eventual happiness make a powerful play of thrilling adventure, heroic rescues and intense romance. It affords Miss Pringle the greatest emotional opportunity of her career. The second attraction. “That Certain Things.” is an hilarious comedy of the ups and downs of city life, starring Viola Lana.
"Sunrise,” Fox Films next big production on the release schedule, is set more elaborately than any other production ever made. The scenic settings of this production represent an investment running into more than one hundred thousand pounds. An entire city square, filled with thousands of people, speeding automobiles, wagons, street cars and elevated trains and illuminated with hundreds of thousands of electric lights, was built bv Fox Films. It was the biggest, most
massive and expensive set ever built for any motion picture. The amusement park exterior is equally pretentious and luxurious. An entire amusement park midway, with all the concessions, covered about five New York city blocks. These unprecedented sets are photographed from every angle and emphasise the magnitude~of “Sunrise.”
