WILL COUNTERACT CITIZENS' LEAGUE

MR. TAYLOR’S SCHEME “DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES” Besides organising the movement of forming ratepayers’ associations in various districts throughout Auckland, with the object of securing improvement in civic administration in citiens’ interests, Mr. H. F. Taylor, originator of the movement, has the counteracting of the Citizens’ Progressive League as an aim. “I initiated the movement 12 months ago to counteract the Citizens’ Progressive League, which represents vested interests only,” he says, in a statement to The Sun on the objects of the scheme. “This league comes into activity for the sole purpose of electing a ticket to suit its members. No notice, as a body, is taken of how its nominees carry out their duties, and the body is inanimate until just before an election.” “The scheme started by me is based on democratic principles, to ensure fair treatment for all shades of electors and ratepayers,” adds Mr. Taylor.
