NURSE R. HOGG (From Our Own Correspondent) WANG AN UI, To - day. Tho death of Nurse-Matron R. llogg has occurred at New Plymouth, at the age of 29. Nurse Hogg was born in Wanganui and was trained at the Waipukurau and Wellington hospitals. She was recently appointed nurs* -matron at the New Plymouth High School Hostel. MRS. ROBERT BEAUMONT At the early age of 22 years. Airs. Robert Beaumont, of Rotow&ro. died recently at Huntly. Mrs. Beaumont's husband is well known in Association football circles, and has done a great deal to keep the game alive in the Waikato in recent years. MRS. J. M. H. HUNTER The death has occurred of a wellknown resident of the Cambridge district, Mrs. Jessie M. H. Hunter, the widow of the late Mr. Charles Hunter, at the ago of 65. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. James Wallace, of Papatoetoe. She went to Cambridge 42 years ago. MR. C. E. MATTHEWS Born in Auckland 73 years ago. Mr. C. E. Matthews, who has practised in the city for many years as a barrister and solicitor, died on Wednesday. Air. Matthews, who was a son of the late Dr. R. Alatthews. founded tho lirm of Matthews and Clarke, in which his son. Air. R. E. N. Matthews, is now a partner. His wife predeceased him. and he is survived by his children. Air. R. E. N. Alatthews, of this city: Mr-. J. J. Wrigley, Tauranga; Mr. Frank Alatthews, Woodcocks; and Mrs. W. C. Andrews, Alt. Eden. MRS. ELIZABETH PHILLIPS After a short illness. Airs. Elizabeth Phillips, aged 90 years, died on Wednesday at the home of her son-in-law, Air. H. A. Kasper. Arthur Street* Ponsonby. Born at North Thoresby, Lincolnshire, Airs. Phillips came to New Zealand with her husband, the late Air. Charles Phillips, in the Whirlwind, in 1859. Engaged in his trade* as a wheelwright. Air. Phillips lived for many years at Drury, later commencing farming in the Dome Valley, Warkworth, where he remained until his death, 23 years ago. after which Mrs. Phillips came to live in Ponsonbv. There was a family of 31 children, of whom seven are still living. These are All*. Francis Phillips and ATr. [George H. Phillips, of Warkworth. Mr. Arthur A. Phillips, of Avondale. Airs. [ Peet and Airs. Moores, of Epsom. Mrs. Richards, of Grafton Road, and Mrs. jH. Kasper, of Ponsonby. There are j 27 grandchildren and 24 great-grand-i children. MR. GEORGE MORRISON Air. George Alorrison, who died recently at his home in Eden Terrace, was born in County Cavan on February 23, 1853. Sailing by the Queen of Nations from Belfast, he arrived in New Zealand on July 6, 1874. On October 14. 1879, he was married at St. James’s Church to Sarah Alitchell. In 1881 he became a storekeeper and farmer at Hikuai, in the East Coast district, and he lived there for 33 years. Owing to ill-health he came to Auckland, where he had been living for 14 years. Air. Alorrison leaves a family of seven daughters, three sons and 35 grandchildren.
