COST OF ARAPUNI

PAYMENTS TO CONTRACTORS AUCKLAND MEMBER INQUIRES (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Thursday. A request for a return affording a comparison of the past and prospective cost of the Arapuni power development and the original contract price Was made by Mr. M. J. Savage in the House this afternoon. Mr. Savage asked:— 1. The original contract price. 2. The amount paid by the Government, on taking over the job last year, for the work already executed by the contractors. 3. The amount paid in satisfaction of claims advanced by the contractors. 4. The time to be taken by the Government in the completion of the job according to schedule. In accordance with the usual process, notice of these questions was given, and they will be duly answered later on in the session.
