MAJESTIC

NOVEL ENTERTAINMENT ON FRIDAY No New Zealander should miss a visit to the Majestic Theatre when Princess Te Puea and her Maori Maids and Warriors are appearing. All the charm and artistry of old Maoriland, in a picturesque setting, is presented by these talented performers, under the direction of New Zealand’s Maori Florence Nightingale. “The Divine Woman,” with alluring Greta Garbo and Lars Hanson, will also have its final presentation tomorrow evening, as will also the beautiful musical programme which accompanies it. On Friday at this theatre will be presented one of the most outstanding programmes in its very eventful history, for “Jasper’s Limited,” that wellknown band of performers, will appear on the stage. The concerts presented annually by “Jasper’s Limited” are always looked forward to with the greatest anticipation, and that this new revuette will be of the same scintillating standard is eloquently shown by the list of attractions to be presented. The entertainment will be opened by the whole company rendering “The Company Are We,” to be followed by a solo specially chosen each evening. Rees and Asher, two very talented musicians, will then entertain with songs at the piano. Other attractions will be a very humorous sketch. “When the Ladder Fell,” with Agnes Calder taking the part of Mrs. Bumble, and Charles Massee that of the misunderstood Bumble, a very delightful musical sketch, “When the Opera Came to Church,” with Torchy Orford enacting the role of the parson; an “exposure” of the Pensions Department, and a very beautiful double chorus, “Mississippi Ripples,” which it is claimed is one of the finest light numbers ever written. That this is no ordinary programme is shown by the fact that a full pictorial programme will also be shown. This will be headed by “Love Hungry,” with dainty little Lois Moran and popular Lawrence Gray in the leading roles. Lois Moran has the featured role of a wise little chorus girl, and Lawrence Gray that of a hard-boiled newspaper man. The part of a show girl for the demure Miss Moran may seem strange until it is remembered that she trained to be a dancer in Paris. So, she is fully capable of interpreting the part. At least she says it has been a role she has long wanted to play. A New Zealand scenic, an amusing Aesop Fable cartoon, and the everinteresting Majestic Magazine, will also be included on the programme.
