MAN AND WIFE HURT Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. A serious accident occurred in Lincoln Road yesterday evening, when a motor-car on its way from the city knocked down two pedestrians, Mr. and Mrs. L. Forsyth. Mrs. Forsyth jvas unconscious when picked up. She was taken to the Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition. Mr. Forsyth received minor injuries. Tho woman was evidently caught between the mudguard and radiator while attempting to cross the road.

RAISING THE STANDARD (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 10.35 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Dairy factory managers in conference resolved to try to eliminate all but choicest quality butter from export. Mr. Thorby, Minister of Agriculture, announced that this year 73 per cent, of the butter produced in New South Wales was choicest, while local consumption was increasing at a rate of 3,000 tons yearly.
