HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE Under date June 23 the High Commissioner for New Zealand cabled from London as follow’s: — Hemp.—Manila market quiet. Sellers quote “J” grade July-September shipment and August-October shipment at £37 ss. The Sisal market is slow and easier. Closing values July-September shipment, Nc. 1, £34 to £34 10s; No. 2, £32 10s to £33. New Zealand market very quiet arid values unchanged. Wool.—The Bradford tops market is quiet. There is a fair inquiry for crossbred tops. Average quotations for tops are:—64ib, Merino, warp, 4s 7d a lb; average, 4s ssd to 4s 6d: 561 b, super halfbred, 3s sa: 501 b, halfbred, 2s 7£d to 2s Sd; 401 b, prepared, 2s ljd. Apples.—Ex lonic on market. Condition fair apart from bruise in Sturmer. Port Adelaide commences discharge today’. Market quiet and large Stunner difficult to sell. London prices: Dougherty and Statesman, 12s to 14s; Delicious and Rome beauty, 12s to 13s; Sturmer, 10s to 12s 6d; Pioneer, 12s. Pears.—Ex lonic, P. Barry sound and Winter Nelis very’ wasty. Prices: P. Barry, 4s; Winter Nelis, 2s 6d to 3s a tray; sound repacked, 5s to 6s. Otago pears ex Port Adelaide, very good.
