SLAYER REMANDED
FEARFUL CRIMES TRIAL BEGINS AT PERTH (United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) Reed. 9.35 a.m. PERTH, To-day. Clifford Hulme has been remanded for eight days, on a charge of murdering Harold Eaton Smith, whom he shot while he was driving a tractor. Mrs. Smith, who has improved, stated that her husband was shot dead on Friday afternoon, the employee stating that he had fallen from the tractor and been killed. She wanted to rush to the spot, when the same employee sympathetically persuaded her to remain in the house, immediately after which he punched her face and body unmercifully. He secured her with ropes to a bedpost and assaulted her, and then attacked other members of the family. The baby is recovering. The six-year-old girl is still in a critical condition.
