International Road Race
46 Entries and 20 Makes Will Compete Entries for the Tourist Trophy International race for standard cars, to be held in Ireland in August next, and promoted by the Royal Automobile Club, England, closed with a total of 46. Further entries at 20 guineas may be received up to June 30, and at 40 guineas up to July 31. The countries already represented in the race are Great Britain, America, France, Italy, Austria, and Germany. The race will be run on a handicap basis over a 13 2-3 miles' course in the neighbourhood of Belfast, the total distance being approximately 400 miles. Every car entered must be normally constructed, catalogued, and offered for sale with an electric starting motor, an electric lighting set, having a dynamo permanently driven from the engine, wings, screen and hood. The object of the R.A.C. in promoting the race is to develop the standard touring type of car, and the excellent entry that has already been received shows how popular such an event apparently is with manufacturers. Obviously this feature will also make the race of great value to the private motorist. £I,OOO First Prize The principal awards in the race will be: To the winner, the R.A.C. International Tourist Trophy and £1,000; to the second, £300; and to the third, £2OO.
