BOY BURIED WHEN TUNNEL COLLAPSED
DUG OUT UNCONSCIOUS (Special to THE BUK) PALMERSTON N.. Monday. While tunnelling into a bank Michael Abraham, aged 11, son of Mr. R. P. Abraham, of Fitzherbert Avenue, had a narrow escape from death. Assisted by some playmates the lad had dug a tunnel about 9ft high, and extending into a bank for about 6ft. Without warning the roof collapsed, completely burying the boy. Fortunately his mates were clear of thd fall and immediately sought help. Although a rescue party was quickly on the scene, it was nearly a quarter of an hour before the boy was brought out. He was then unconscious, but beyond being bruised he has completely recovered.
