SOCCER SPLIT

THISTLE CLUB TO FORM NEW ASSOCIATION FURTHER PEACE PROPOSALS REJECTED A further meeting of the Thistle F.A. Club members and supporters was held last evening, Mr. J. F. W. Dickson again occupying the chair. At the meeting a week previous a resolution suggesting a conference with auo 'paijjuo stjaa 'VV* puupionv OUT condition of the offer being the withdrawal of certain expressions used when Thistle’s resignation was accepted. The A.F.A. having received the withdrawal it intimated that the incident must now be considered closed. The chairman pointed out that the conciliatory overtures had been rejected, and the door slammed on any settlement of the dispute, by the management of the A.F.A., and he regretted any break with the parent body, as he considered it could not carry on without the Thistle Club. The forming of a new association would be a disaster and probably mean the failure of the code to retain Blandford Park. A new body would not be recognised by the New Zealand Council, but might affiliate with the Scottish F.A. A resolution moved by Mr. E. Carter, that the members of Thistle did not choose to play again under the A.F.A. was carried unanimously. Mr. Fyffie of the Tramways Club urged further efforts for conciliation, as the senior clubs wished Thistle to remain in the competitions, and Dr. Xeil McDougall pointed out the club's duty to the game and the public. The A.F.A. was composed of representatives nominated and elected by the clubs and affiliated bodies, and lie supported the proposal to seek reopening the door to an amicable settlement. A motion to form a separate association was then carried, and the Thistle Club committee was appointed the body to draft the constitution of the new organisation. Messrs. .Danks, Neill, Lawson, Kay, sen., McKinven, Curran, Fletcher, Black, and Carter being added to the last.
