FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

POWER BOARD MEMBER EXPRESSES DISSENT QUESTION OF PROCEDURE Strong dissent against the policy o£ granting financial assistance without suflieient security was expressed by Mr. T. Lamont at a meeting of the Waitemata Power Board this morning. Mr. Lamont objected to the confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting as his dissent to grants of financial assistance was not recorded. “I strongly disapprove,” he said, “of the granting of financial assistance without security as specified by the Act.” At the conclusion of the meeting the chairman suggested that Mr. Lamont’s views on financial assistance should be placed before the Power Board’s conference, to be held next month. Mr. Lamont was asked to draft a remit that might be considered at the next meeting of the board.
