PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT FLAT BUSH TWO KILLS AND MANY SPILLS In spite of the strong counter attractions on Saturday, there was a good attendance at the meet of the Pakuranga Hunt at the Flat Bush School. The fields were very slippery, after the late rain, and the fence-mender was kept constantly employed as the result of a number of the horses running into the wires. There were numerous spills during the afternoon. Fortunately the majority were of a minor nature. The most serious occurred when Mr. J. Buchanan’s if ount, breasted a sapling, when trying to negotiate one of the obstacles, and came over with the rider. Mr. Buchanan was unconscious for a short time, and had two teeth broken, and his face badly bruised. After a short rest, he was able to again participate in the runs. There were two good runs during the afternoon, but on several occasions the hares kept close to a creek on Mr. Blake’s property, which was too wide to jump. Two of the runs, which resulted in kills, took the huntsmen over the properties of Messrs. Stonex. Murphy, Robertson, Rutherford and Blake.
