LYRIC

“SLIGHTLY USED” “Slightly Used,” a happy comedy starring May McAvoy and Conrad Nagel, and now being shown at the Lyric Theatre, tells a story of a family of girls and the lovers of the eldest. Their father refused to let them marry till their older sister was married. They nagged her and she trumped up a marriage, and corresponded with an imaginary husband. Then comes a stranger who for the first time stirs the heart of the fair pretender. She sends notices to the papers detailing the sudden death of Major John Smith. All goes well with “Mrs. John, until the real John appears and falls desperately in love with her. “Hamilton Husbands,” Rudall Hayward’s latest film, which is causing much interest, will also be shown, as well as pictures of the Kingsford Smith flight.

Though no role hasa been definitely assigned in “Show Boat,” all manner of suggestions, rumours and almost news about the players in the most interesting looking picture of the coming year are reaching Harry Pollard. The latest “almost news” has it that Maary Philbin is going to play Magnolia; Jean Hersholt, Captain Andv; Belle Bennett, Parthenia Ann; and Estelle Taylor, Julie. They are all good players too
