FAST TRAVELLING
“A WORLD'S quarter-mile inscholastic record” (whatever that may mean) is claimed in U.S.A. for an American State High School athlete, Herbert Moxley. The Americans have a weakness for this sort of thing, but young Moxley seems to be “the goods” all right. He scampered over the 440 yd course in 48 2-ssec, which is decidedly fast travelling. The world’s best for the quarter is Maxey Long’s famous straight-away dash in 47s dead. It was established 28 years ago, and nobody has ever looked like beating it.
