NEW JUVENILE LEAD WITH “MISS NEW ZEALAND”

CECIL SCOTT’S VARIED CAREER Cecil Scott, who plays leading man with Dale Austen in “The Bush Cinderella,” though young, has had a varied experience of stage work. He was formerly with J. C. Williamson’s in musical comedy and played in “Leave It To Jane,” “Primrose” and “Whirled Into Happiness.” As he was with the Allan Doone Company on one of its trips to New Zealand, he will have met many of his audience before they see him on the screen. Speaking of his engagement for “The Bush Cinderella” he says he regards it as an honour to play lead with Dale Austen, not only because she is the winner of a contest open to any girl in New Zealand with a taste for the stage, but because he regards her as a coming cinema star with the qualities that bring success. Cecil Scott acted for the cinema with Australia’s first big producer, Raymond Longford, and played juvenile lead in “The Dinkum Bloke,” featuring Arthur Touchart and Lotos Thompson, an Australian girl, now under the guiding hand of Fred Niblo. He also played in Arthur Shirley’s screen drama. "The Sealed Room.” filmed from the Bondi Studios. He was for a time with Muriel Starr in ; drama, and just before his preser* ! engagement was associated with Gas i ton Mervale and Beatrice Day in : French Grand Guignol plays. This was a venture new to Sydney, i and met with some success. Gaston Mervale originated a Little Theatre | scheme of his own when two or three of these 20-minute plays were shown in one evening.
