MANAGER APPOINTED FOR NEW ST. JAMES THEATRE

In a recent interview Leon Gordon stated that following the expiry of his contract with J. C. Williamson, which still has 12 months to run, he proposes to take his wife on a world tour and return to Australia to establish a stud farm. He will retain his interest in stage productions, but whether he will appear in them after that time he has not definitely decided. But we’ve heard that tale before.

Mr. John Fuller, who arrived in Invercargill on Juno 18, is on his way north, visiting Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington. He will be in Auckland for the opening of the St. James Theatre. Sir Benjamin Fuller, who is arriving in Auckland on July 3, will also attend the gala performance of “Archie” on July 5. Captain Winston’s sea-lions are coming to the Regent Theatre, Auckland, at an early date, accompanied by nymphs whose exploits in a large glass tank the sea-lions endeavour to emulate. There are seven lions, which the Captain knows by name and sight. It is a most thrilling act, and should make a strong appeal to all sea-loving New Zealanders.
