“WHITE WINGS” Back in the 90's, Just when the first clipper-built ships had been launched, the attention of the whole sea-faring world was rivetted on the rivalry between England and America for the Chinese tea trade. ••'White Wings," now showing at the Princess and Tivoli Theatres, treats of this period, and of the great race between the “Lord of the Isles" and the “Yankee Clipper.” In Foochow Harbour the two grey--1 hounds of the sea meet. The second atraction is “Surrender, starring Mary Pliilbin and Ivan Mosjukine. , , The story is laid on the border of Russia and Austria and deals with the love of a little peasant girl for a mighty Russian prince, commander of invading troops. How she tamed his arrogance through a purifying love makes an emotional masterpiece, while for those who love action there are plenty of unusual material and colourful atmosphere when the town is invaded by the Russians and then recaptured by a counter-attack of the Austrians.
