COMPULSORY TRAINING
PETITION FOR ABOLITION “The results of the anti-military training meeting held last month were entirely satisfactory,” said Mrs. Soljak, in a report to the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland women’s branch of the New Zealand Labour Party. Great interest was being shown by all classes of the community in the petition for repeal of the Compulsory Military Service Act, many signatures being obtained. It was arranged to send copies of the petition to other districts and to ask for the co-operation of branches throughout the Dominion. It was decided to seek information from the Christchurch branch of the Peace Council, with a view to forming a branch there. A vote of thanks was passed to Mesdames Gibson and Soljak for their work in organising the meeting and setting the petition in circulation.
