MAN’S DEATH IN DUNEDIN WARNING TO PUBLIC Press Association. DUNEDIN, To-day. At the inquest concerning the death of Edw'ard Hay, a single man aged 45, who died as the result of an overdose of sulphonal tabloids, the coroner drew attention to the menace of both sulphonal and veronal if these tabloids were taken otherwise than according to medical prescription. Dr. Ritchie said doses that brought dangerous results varied according to individual cases. In some instances 30 grains (six tabloids) had been known to kill, in other cases the danger point was reached at 50, 60, or 80 grains. It was a drug that acted very slowly and no doubt deceased had been taking it. It should not be sold without a definite warning and it was risky to sell 100 grains at once. A verdict was returned that Hay died of an overdose of -ulphonaL
