LIVED BY FRAUD
man and woman SENTENCED bad cheques issued a man and woman who had lived recently by means of valueless cheques were sentenced at the police Court to-day. The accused were George Russell. IK ed 24. and Elva Ellen Russell, aged pleaded guilty to five charges n / obtaining money and goods valued a t £l7 10s. means of valueless cheques. Chief-Detective Hammond said that t he woman had gained possession of her father's cheque book, and issued false cheques which the man endorsed. The man had previous convictions, and had on two ocasions been sentenc d to terms of reformative detention. George Russell was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment on each of two charges, and the woman was placed on probation for two years.
