ORANGES SELL FREELY EGG PRICES STEADY Steady trading is recorded in all departments in the City Marts. Vegetables meet with a specially ready sale. Heavy supplies or apples are ’ coming forward and ruling rates are low. Good quality dessert pears meet with a ready sale at fairly satisfactory prices. Oranges are selling freely, large quantities going into consumption. Values still hold below the cost, however, and both importers and producers contend that considerable losses are being made at the moment. The Waipahi this afternoon brings a further shipment of 14,000 of oranges and 2,000 cases of tomatoes, besides a small quantity of miscellaneous Island fruit. Bananas at Low Levels Bananas continue to meet with a fairly steady sale, and values remain at fairly low levels. The Tofua, the vessel of principal interest to the banana interests. arrived at Suva on Wednesday, and left again yesterday for Tonga and Samoa. The vessel is due back in Auckland on July 9. , , ' .
