Firm Tone on ’Change
STEADY DEMAND FOR BANKS
LITTLE activity vas recorded on ’Change this morning. The market for most of tlie better classes of securities remains firm.
Banks are particularly steady, with practically no movement in the market. New Zcalands are slightly firmer, with sellers at 59s 6d, supported by buyers at 595. In the loan and agency section Wright Stephensons are meeting with a steady demand., with sellers hard to locate. Coals are firm, with more buyers than sellers, but little business is passing in the section. Slightly more Interest is being taken in timbers. Buyers of Nationals improved threepence to 4s 6d this morning. Kauris are unsupported at 20s. Le.yland-O’Briens are sought at 31s. Little movement is recorded in industrials. In mining, Moanataiaris are slightly
firmer. Waiotahis (con.) were dealt with at 2£d. Waihis continue firm around lls 7d. Business yesterday afternoon: On ’Change—Taranaki Oils, lls. Ss 9d; Auckland Gas (con.), 16s lOd; Northern Steam (paid), 14s 9d; Wellington Woollens (ord.), £6 ss; Gear Meat, 38s 6d: New Zealand Farmers’ Fertilisers, 83s 6d; Waihi Mining, lls 9d. Business at this morning’s early call: Reported—Gear Meat, 3Ss 6d. Business at mid-day: On ’Change— New Zealand Breweries (deb.), 22s 9d; Waihi Mining, lls 7d. Reported—Milne and Choyce (deb. stock), 24s 3d; New Waiotahi Mining (con.), 2id.
