T HIS entertaining gentleman is Otto Kemmerich, German professional swimmer, who spent his Easter holidays in a tank with a tame seal, establishing a “new world’s record” for an endurance swim. Sad to relate, the seal became horribly bored with the proceedings, and climbed out of the tank after a day’s immersion. He could not be coaxed back. His master stayed on for 46 hours in all.
