“SEEDING” TENNIS DRAW
WIMBLEDON TOURNEY AN INTERNATIONAL ARRAY British Ofjicial Wireless Reed. 10.30 a.m. RUGBY, Wednesday. The Wimbledon tennis championships open next Monday, and there will again be an international array of the world’s greatest players. The recently-introduced method of “seeding” the draw, to preclude encounters between potential champions in the early rounds, and ensure international character to the later stages ot the competitions, was used at Wimbledon to-day. * In the men’s singles, the eight players seeded were Cochet (who holds the championship), Lacoste, Borotra (France), Tilden, Hunter, Hennessey (United States), De Morpurgo (Italy) and Patterson (Australia). The seeded players in the women’s singles were Misses Wills (the holder), Ryan, Jacobs (United States), Senorlta D’Alvarez (Spain), Miss Boumenn (Holland), Fraulein Aussem (Germany). Miss Bennett, Mrs. Watson (Britain).

In the Queen’s Club tennis championship, third round, Hopman beat Hegarty, 6—3, 6—2. In the fourth round, Crawford beat Scroope, 6—3, 6—3; Hopman beat Powel, 6 —3, 6 —4; Tilden beat O’Callaghan, 6—2, 6—l.
