PAKURANGA HUNT

MEET AT RAMARAMA

The members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club met at Mr. Frost’s homestead, at Ramarama, yesterday. In spite of the unfavourable weather there was a fair attendance of followers, and some very enjoyable runs were obtained. The hounds were thrown off on Mr. W. Sharp’s property, and put up a good strong hare, which circled the farm and led the chase on to Mr. Dan Lynche’s ground. It crossed the road near the church, skirting round the bank of the store, through on to Mr. Frost’s, and recrossed the road on to Mr. Sharpe’s farm. With the pack at close range, the quarry retraced its track over the various properties, and was eventually killed after a long run of about seven miles. A visit was then paid to Mr. D. Lynche’s farm, and another good hare was soon raised, leading the chase over a variety of obstacles, through Mr. Reid’s, Miss Colcbaker’s and Mr. Gothorpe’s properties. Taking a sharp turn “puss” retraced her line to Mr. Lynch’s, where she crossed the scent of another hare, resulting in the pack splitting. Owing to the failing light it was decided to adjourn to Mr. Frost’s, where afternoon tea was waiting. Mr. R. Townsend, of the Waikato Hunt Club, was one of the followers. Mr. Chris. Allen, on behalf of the visitors, extended their thanks to the host and hostess for their hospitality, and Mr. Dan Lynch responded.
