PENWOMEN’S RECITAL

DRAMA, VERSE AND MUSIC The League of New Zealand Penwomen will hold a recital of original drama, verse and music in Lewis Eady Hall, Queen Street, on Friday, June 29, at 8 p.m. A long and interesting programme has been arranged, beginning with an overture by the Penwomen’s Orchestra. Two plays will be produced, “The Flaw in the Amber,” by Ethel Schmitt, and “Our Firends’ Frieds,” by Mary Stuart Boyd, and there will be a sketch entitled “Answering an Advertisement,” by Jean Boswell. Two poems will be recited, “The Green Shawl,” by Edna Graham Macky, and “The Maestro to his Cello,” by Isabel Maud Peacock, and the songs will include two Maori melodies composed by Maewa Kaihau and sung by Mrs. H. King, “Horses of the Dawn,” words by Marieda Batten, and “Moon Canoe,” music by Mary Brett, both sung by Miss Etta Field. The stage manager will be Miss Nello Porter.
