BALTIC WAR THREAT
LITHUANIA AGAIN FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Times Cable. LONDON, Wednesday. The Kovno correspondent of “The Times” says the Premier of Lithuania, Professor A. Valdemaras, in an address to a conference of riflemen said: “Perhaps it will be your fate to fight further for the independence of your country.” Ha warned them to be on their guard against the Powers who, he said, were attempting to force Lithuania to cede Memel to Poland. The Minister of War, M. Daukantas, declared that the Powers in question wanted to force Lithuania to come under the influence of Poland. He said the Powers must know Lithuania did not want war and bloodshed, but if war became necessary to defend her independence she was ready and would not cease fighting until she had achieved a complete victory or until the whole of the people of Lithuania had been slain on the battlefield. The correspondent says the Soviet press alleges that far-reaching plans on the part of Poland to annex Lithuania have been formed.
