Foster, marine superintendent of the Union Steamship Company. left by train for Wellington last evening. The Rev. L. B. Busfield, secretary of the Sunday School Union, returned from the South by the Limited this morning. Mr. G. C. Godfrey, Secretary of Marine, returned to Wellington by train last evening after a short visit to Auckland. Dr. A. O. Knight, whose wife died recently, was accorded a vote of sympathy by the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday. Mr. J. H. Maur, of London, who arrived from Melbourne, by the Marama yesterday on a business visit of the Dominion, is at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. S. J. Harbutt was accorded a motion of sympathy by members of the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday because of the death of his mother. Mr. Beaumont Smith, of J. C. Williamson Films, who has been visiting Wanganui, returned to Auckland this morning and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. M. H. Moon, Mr. F. A. Garry, and Mr. A. Murdoch, left last evening for Wellington to attend a special meeting of the New Zealand Educational Institute. Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, is at present in England, having arrived at Southampton from Quebec. He will return to New Zealand in the Aorangi leaving Vancouver in October. Mr. A. A. Ross, at last evening’s meeting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, was appointed joint representative of the executive with Mr. T. llunro to the agricultural advisory committee of the Seddon Technical College.
