TWO CALLS FOR MINISTER
PRESBYTERIAN’S DILEMMA SPECIAL CHURCH MEETING Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Tuesday. A situation said to be unique in the annals of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand arose when the Rev. M. A. Gow, of Waianiwa. 13 miles from Invercargill, received two calls on the same day, one from Waikaka, near Gore, and one from Centre Bush, near Invercargill. So unusual was the position that no Church legislation had been framed to cover It, and a special meeting of the Southland Presbytery was convened to-day to discuss the question. It was decided to place the two calls in the hands of the minister, who said he felt he was under a moral obligation to the Waikaka congregation, and thought he would be doing right in accepting its call.
