Strongbow, scribe for the First Devonport troop, reports: "On Friday, May 26, the boys of the First Devonport troop held a very successful parents’ evening. The Scouts gave three items: signalling, ambulance, and gymnastics. | Mr. Newmarch was in charge of the gymnastics; Senior Patrol Leader D. Bennett, the ambulance; and Patrol Leader H. Hillier, the signalling. During the evening Scoutmaster Jones was presented with a beautiful wristlet watch from his troop "On June 2 our troop took part in the parade before the GovernorGeneral. ‘‘The following boys have been presented with badges recently: H. Hillier and W. Gibbs (oarsman); D. Bennett (missioner); S. Catchpole (rescuer and swimmer), and C. Little (Tenderfoot). "We have now a football team, and would be pleased to meet other troops in friendly games.” Young Thunder, of the Punua troop, states:— "At the last weekly parade of the Punua troop, Patrol Leader lan Thompson was appointed senior leader. Next month Patrol Leader Dick will be presented with his five years' service star, and, the following month, Patrol Leader Dorman and I will receive ours. “We spent the evening practising the several uses of the Scout stave, for next week, we are holding a competition. •Ve made many kinds of tents, stretchers. and tripod stands. “After the parade the monthly meeting of the committee was held. "We have now about 17 boys, out of whom two are scouts from other troops.” * * • On the evening of Monday, June 11 m Tauranga, a social for Scouts was organised by the Citizens’ Committee.
