Brides of Junetime in Blithesome A rray

BEAUMONT—MITCHELL

At St. .Luke's Church. Manurewa, yesterday afternoon, Margaret, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mitchell, Homai, was married to Edward, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Beaumont, of Manurewa. The bride was given away by her father, and looked charming in a gown of golden brocade, finished with tiny frills of cream georgette. Over her frock fell gracefully a beautiful veil of honiton lace, held in place by a bandeau of pearls and tiny clusters of orange blossom. A bouquet of cream and gold flowers was carried. Miss Stella Beaumont attended as

chief maid, wearing a dainty frock of blush pink georgette, with tiered skirt of silver lace, and head-dress of silver leaves and pink tulle, and carried a dainty bouquet of pink and mauve flowers. Miss Ngare Mitchell, cousin of the bride, also attended, wearing a pretty frock of lilac georgette, banded with silver lame, with head-dress of tulle, finished with silver spray, and her bouquet was of matching tints. Mr. Harry Beaumont carried out the duties of best man, while Mr. Ross Mitchell acted as groomsman. The Rev. Frank Dobson was the officiating clergyman, and Mrs. Reid-Clark was organist. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. M. E. Brown, Russell Road, Manurewa. Mrs. Mitchell acted as hostess, and wore a smart frock of battleship grey crepe de chine, with relief of green, and small black hat, and carried a posy of violets. The bride’s going-away frock was of navy repp, worn under a coat of navy, velour, with trimmings of grey fur, and a small red hat.

SMITH—TANNER

Miss Isabelle Frances Tanner, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tanner. of Rangiuru, Te Puke, was married at the Presbyterian Church, Te Puke, yesterday morning to Mr. Alexander H. Smith, of Taumarunui. The Rev. Mr. Warnock officiated. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a frock of ivory crepe de chine with beautiful Honiton lace over white satin. Her veil was held in place with a wreath of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white and pink daisies. Miss Lena Tanner who attended her

sister, wore a smart frock of green satin with overdress of sea-green net with scalloped skirt. The bridesmaid wore a band of green net around her head finished with a bow. She carried a posy of pale pink African daises. M. Sydney Smith, brother of the bridegroom acted as best man. Miss Cannell officiated at the organ. Mrs. Tanner, mother of the bride wore a smart black satin coat with hat to match. Miss Doris Tanner wore a beige crepe de chine frock with picture hat to tone.

HODSON—FORBES The Kingsland Methodist Church was the scene of a charming little wedding on Friday, when Myra, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Forbes, of Lawrence, Otago, tvas married to Bernard A., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hodson, Wanganui. The Rev. T. R. B. Woolloxall officiated. The bride, who was given away by Mr. Frederick Hawley, chose a most attractive jumper suit of powder blue chenille, cut on gracefully simple lines. With this was worn a smart closefitting hat of silvery grey, with shoes and stockings to tone. She carried a sheaf of blue irises. Miss Una Currie, the bridesmaid, wore a frock of apple-green and biscuit crepe de chine. Her Victorian posy : was of pastel shadings. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Montague Jones, of Auckland, while Miss Twentyman, of Thames, presided at the organ. After the ceremony a quiet reception was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. F. Hawley, 35 Carlton Gore Road, Grafton. BRADSHAW—SHAW A pretty wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Shaw, Huntly, on Monday last, when Jessie May Martin, their eldest daughter, was married to Mr. Arthur Bradshaw, elder ; son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bradshaw, of Ohakune. The Rev. M. Gibb (Presbyterian) officiated. Miss Elsie Shaw was bridesmaid and Mr. Tom Furniss best man. After the ceremony a reception was held by the bride’s parents, the usual toasts being honoured. The bride’s dainty frock was of figured silk marocain and metal lace with the orthodox veil and orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of white sweet peas and asparagus fern. The bridesmaid’s frock was salmon pink crepe de chine with scalloped hem and ornamented with silver trimmings, and swathed tulle head -band. She carried a pretty bouquet of flowers to tone. ENGAGEMENTS The engagement is announced of Nell, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tonge, Sandes Street, Thames, to Herbert Goffe Foster, of Plamilton, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Foster, Herne Bay, Auckland.
