Miss Beryl Nettleton, of Devonport, is the guest of Mrs. E. Sou ter, at Cambridge. Miss Frances Smyth, of Auckland, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. Carew Smith in Master ton. Mr. and Mrs. T. Henderson, of Wellington, and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Holman, of Thames, are at the Star Hotel. * * * Mrs. Trevor Thomson has returned to her home in Parnell after a visit to her mother, Mrs. Gawith, of Masterton. * * * Guests at the Grand Hotel include Mrs. T. Bates, of Silverdale, was granted permission to take up the post-graduate course for nurses by the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday. Miss Bates was a gold-medallist at the Auckland Hospital. * * sft Mr. J. H. G. Rowley and Miss Rowley, of Ivelburn, Wellington, left Auckland on Saturday by the Tofua for a trip to the Islands. On their return they intend living in Auckland for the remainder of the winter. Mrs. E. K. Wright, of Christchurch; Mrs. L. P. Cameron, of Lyttelton; Mr. Keith Cunn and Miss Gunn, of the Bay of Plenty; and Mr. and Mrs. C. Hammond, of Fairlie, are at the Royal Hotel.
ROWING CLUB DANCE
ANNUAL FUNCTION The Priscilla Tea Rooms were attractively decorated, with streamers and autumn flowers last evening, when a very successful annual dance and prizegiving ceremony was held by members of the Auckland Rowing Club. A leather suitcase was presented during the evening to Mr. R. K. Stacej T , in recognition of his services of club captain for the past three years. The president, Mr. H. Cleal, made the presentations. A number of enjoyable items were given by Miss Laura Walker, Mr. S. Doull, Ingall’s Hawaiian Orchestra, and the Snappy Three. Mrs. H. Cleal, the president’s wife, who welcomed the guests, wore an attractive frock of black Chantilly lace, i with touches of gold. Among those present were: Mrs. Stacey, wearing a Naples blue taffeta frock. Mrs. Madden, in a frock,of black crepe faille. Mrs. Mahon, frock of black lace. Mrs. Tanner, mist blue crepe de chine. Mrs. Johnson, frock of black mariette. Miss K. McGregor, forget-me-not blue crepe de chine. Miss Dickenson, silver trimmed frock of white georgette. Miss S. McGregor, sequined frock of vellum georgette. Miss Lamond, leaf-green crepe de chine. Miss L. Walker, frock of flame satin and ivory lace. Miss Joyce Porter, black lace and pale gold satin. M.iss O. Duck, frock of flower patterned Ivory ninon. Miss Suter, buttercup yellow ring velvet. Miss E. Murray, frock of ficelle-tinted lace. Miss Trevarthen, opal blue tissue. Miss M.
