MINING NEWS
ALBURN I A.—The manager reports as follows:—“We have driven a distance of 17ft for the week in a more easterly direction. The country rock is of a splendid description and the leader we are following is an average width of 4in carrying good mineral and silica.” KURANUI.—The manager reports as follows:—“The drive on the Ross reef has been extended 10ft for the week. The country being passed through is all that could be desired for making gold. The reef has been a little broken up for the last few feet owing to a break having come across the face, but is now making into a nice body of ore again and a few colours of gold were seen at each break-ing-down.” OCCIDENTAL-UN A—The manager reports as follows:—“The Loyalty reef is composed of quartz seams 4 to 6in wide, intermixed with horses of mullock. These seams have every appearance of coming together and making one solid mass of quartz, about 20ft ahead of the present face going east. The reef has been broken for a distance of 4ft wide, with no hanging wall showing. Colours of gold can be seen in every truck of quartz brought to the surface.”
