FRANKTON STOCK SALE

LATE RATES HOLD Auctioneers report on the usual weekly stock sale held in the Frankton saleyards yesterday as follows: Dalgety and Company Limited: There was an average yarding of beef. The demand was only moderate and late rates were hardly maintained. We sold fat, heavy bullocks up to £l2 10s; prime heavy cows to £9 10s; ordinary fat cows, £6 10s to £8 ss; small heifers, £4 15s to £6 ss. There was a fairly large yarding of store cattle, which sold at late rates. We sold a pen of light-conditioned threeyear steers at £6 15s; store cows, £3 10s to £5 2s; light cows, 30s to £2 15s;i yearling Jersey heifers, £3 10s; yearling cross-bred heifers, £2 2s to £2 10s. There was a large yarding of sheep, principally store wethers. Fat sheep sold at late rates. Prime heavy wethers up to 43s 6d; prime heavy ewes up to 32s 6d; light ewes, 28s 6d to 30s 8d; forward ewes, 265. On account of John Martyn, 175 wooll\ m.s. lambs, 26s 3d; 160 shorn m.s. lambs, 25s 6d; 140 ditto., 22s 3d; 280 4 and 6tooth forward wethers. 40s 3d; 89 ditto, 34s 6d; 139 4 and 6-tooth wethers, 36s 2d: 1 pen 2-tooths, 28s 6d: a pen of mixed aged ewes in lamb to Romney rams, 33s 4d; a pen of 4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes in lamb to Romney rams, 265. Pigs sold at late rates. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report:— At Frankton yesterday we had a good yarding of fat and store cattle, and a fair yarding of fat and store sheep. There was a smaller yarding of fat and store pigs than usual. Beef, although firm, was easier than last week. Fat sheep were very firm again at improved.prices. There was good competition for store sheep, but store cattle in some cases did not reac h vendor’s reserves. Fat pigs were equal to last sale, with better competition for stores. We quote: Fat steers, light, £ll 7s 6d: extra prime heavy cows, £ll 15s to £l2 4s; prime cows, £9 7s 6d to £9 15s; fat cows, ( £7 5s to £8 7s 6d; prime fat heifers, £10; plain and unfinished, £4 15s to £5 7s; store cows, £3 to £3 19s; well-bred two-year Shorthorn steers, £5 13s to £6 Is; two-year steers, good colours, £5 to £5 ss; extra prime fat ewes, 39s to £2 ss; prime heavy fat wethers, £2 3s 6d to £2 6s 3d; fat ewes, 29s 6d; plain fat ewes, 25s 3d to 265; forward hoggets, 23s 9d to 245; fat hoggets, 27s 3d: small hoggets, 18s; small wethers, in low condition, 23s 9d; cull ewes, 15s; best baconers, £3 14s to £3 16s; others, £3 2s to £3 7s; best porkers, £2 5s to £2 11s; light porkers, 36s to £2; sows, 37s 6d to £2 10s; slips, 235; weaners, 16s to ISs; small weaners, 8s 6d to 12s.
