DISMISSED WORKERS

EAST COAST RAILWAY LINE OTHER WORK BEING SOUGHT (From Our Own Correspondent) TAURANGA, To-day. Numerous protests have been made by the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce and other Bay of Plenty associations regarding the dismissal of men as a result of the Public Works Department handing over the East Coast railway to the Railway Department. A telegram was received from the Prime Minister by Mr. C. E. MacMillan, M.P., yesterday, saying that the Government is considering the question of opening up other work. In the meantime, the men are to be allowed to retain their hutments.
