BROADCAST TIME
ACCURATE SIGNALS FROM WELLINGTON Press Assoctatton. WELLINGTON, Monday. A new system of dead accurate time signals will be instituted shortly for the benefit of broadcast listeners. These time signals, which will be transmitted from the Wellington station at 3.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. daily, will consist of a series of dashes at exactly the half-hour. followed by similar dashes one and two minutes afterwards. The exact minute will be denoted by the beginning of each dash, which will sound like a high-pitched buzz. Th?se signals, taken as they will be, from the standard clock at Kelburn Observatory, may be used safely in the rating of chronometers and similar accurate time-keepers. It is not generally corrected until it becomes eight or nine seconds slow.
