“TRIUMPH OF THE RAT” “The Triumph of the Rat,” which will be shown to-night at the Empire Theatre Is a dramatic story of Pari-
sian lire, starring Ivor Novello, the popular British actor.. The plot revolves around Pierre Bouc h e r on, once known as the Rat, who is now the idol of Parisian society, but particularly of the beautiful Zelie de Chaument. At least, he is her idol until he falls in love with Comtesse Madelin de l’Orme and wagered that she would be in his arms within a month. He won his bet but incurred the bitter enmity of Zelie, who vowed to avenge herself by causing his downfall. This she does so completely that in the end he is forced to the gutter, friendless and alone. Hoot G\bson*s latest picture, “A Trick of Hearts,” will also be shown.
Thelma Todd, who plays in ‘ Hell s Angels,” with Ben Lyon, Greta Nissen. James Hall and Louis Wolheim, was “Miss Massachusetts” in 1925. She studied in Boston to become a school teacher, but victory in a beauty con? test changed her mind.
